OUR MISSION

The Global Art Initiative's mission is to break the poverty cycle for disabled artists in Third World Countries. We are a non-profit focused on education and the sale of original artwork to benefit handicapped artists globally. We engage children and adults in art projects geared to developing an understanding of disability and the awareness that artistic ability is not limited by a disability.  Our hope is that through their experience with the Global Art Initiative, participants will take compassionate action, becoming donors in the larger shared humanitarian project.

Empathy Training

We visit schools, detention facilities, and summer camps with the purpose of growing empathy through exploration. Participants hear what it is like to live with a disability and experience firsthand painting with their feet and mouths.

Visitors to the opening night at J Space Gallery in Marble Falls, Texas, expressed amazement and appreciation for the work created by our artists. Children had the opportunity to experience life without arms and painted with their mouths.

Skyler Marsh, pictured on the right, said.. It was a great experience and ..they use their heart not their hands.

Ashley Eckstein, pictured on the left, said it is very hard...  and answered the question- If you see a person without arms tomorrow what kind of things do you think they can do?....you never know what anybody can do.
