Winter Solstace Morning
Cottonwood Shores, Texas - December 21, 2009
The Global Art Initiative started the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere by looking forward to better days for the handicapped artists we represent. Winter Solstace Morning - A Gallery Open House to Bring Hope to Handicapped Artists was attended by about two-dozen people from the Texas communities of Marble Falls, Cottonwood Shores and Horseshoe Bay.
The open house provided us with an opportunity to share some of the stories leading up to the founding of the Global Art initiative, to report on some of our successes and to present the urgent needs. And it provided our guests with information they need to help generate community support.

On the right, guests listen and learn about the living conditions of the artists whose artwork is hung in the gallery.
Above, Dr. Fred Sorrells emphasizes the urgency of
the need for Ken N'gan'ga and Eder Romeus.
Several of our volunteers also presented from their individual perspectives, helping to provide a broader view of our vision and to encouraging participation as volunteers.
Below, a guest watches mouth painting in action
by artist Herold Alvares. The video presentation plays a crucial role in helping visitors appreciate
the wonderful art that is on display in the gallery even more .
Above, Adaptive Art Instructor Theresa Mosley
passionately describes why she is volunteering
with the Global Art Initiative.
The open house featured work new to the gallery by Theresa
Mosley and also by a number of her students. Theresa's
polyptych visualizes her passion for the poor and for the
disabled, and it is a must-see for art lovers everywhere.

The open house idea was proposed by Lynette Morrison, CCIM, a Commercial Realtor and Broker Associate of Kuper Sotheby's International Realty. We are grateful for Lynette's incredible vision and tremendous support for the Global Art Initiative!
