OUR MISSION

The Global Art Initiative's mission is to break the poverty cycle for disabled artists in Third World Countries. We are a non-profit focused on education and the sale of original artwork to benefit handicapped artists globally. We engage children and adults in art projects geared to developing an understanding of disability and the awareness that artistic ability is not limited by a disability.  Our hope is that through their experience with the Global Art Initiative, participants will take compassionate action, becoming donors in the larger shared humanitarian project.

Samantha Melvin - Education Coordinator

Currently teaching elementary level fine arts, Samantha is involved in many local, regional and national efforts to advocate for art education for all children. As Director of Resource Development, Samantha seeks sponsors for art supplies and for the artists so that these artists can learn to sustain themselves, and in turn, teach art to others. Samantha also coordinates the Global Art Project outreach program that invites K-12 artists to exchange art with the children in our participating countries, another way for all to see how even disabled artists are able artists.
