Daniel Sorrells - Logistics Coordinator
Growing up and working with many of Madagascar and Zimbabwe’s poor and disabled has given Daniel a desire to continue helping those in need. Daniel was a four time Academic All-Conference football (soccer) athlete in college and combines his love for the world’s most popular sport with his appreciation of art. As a student of African history, Daniel is currently pursuing a professional career that would enable him to continue to help those in need.
Daniel recently graduated from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas and is currently fervently preparing to take the Texas Bar exam in February 2010. Daniel hopes to be able to use this law degree to further the goals of the Global Art Initiative. Furthermore, having seen the atrocities and daily suffering of so many of the world's poor and disabled, especially those in Zimbabwe, Daniel's dream is to assist those in need and to promote basic human rights.
Daniel is also gearing up for the 2010 FIFA Football World Cup (soccer) in South Africa and hoping that an African country will finally be able to win football's most coveted trophy. Hopefully, South Africa's national team Bafana Bafana will be able to emulate the South African Springboks' amazing 1995 Rugby World Cup triumph. Being in South Africa during that tournament in 1995, Daniel witnessed first hand the power sport has to unite a country. He relived that unique 1995 experience recently while watching the newly released movie, Invictus - the moving story of South African president, Nelson Mandela and the 1995 Rugby World Cup. With the world's largest sporting event coming soon to South Africa, it is Daniel's belief and wish that all of Africa will be able to unite in peace and prosperity to watch and enjoy the 2010 World Cup of Football.
